Radiology Technologists perform a variety of imaging procedures, including X-ray, Fluoroscopy, CT, and Surgery and are responsible for patient safety protocols. Our Radiology Techs function as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
Responsibilities
· Promotes a professional image by adhering to the established dress code.
· Maximizes job potential by attending all mandatory education and in-service programs.
· Contributes to the time management of the department by being punctual to work and on assignments according to the hospital and department standards.
· Responsible for complying with all hospital confidentiality and HIPAA requirements relating to department and hospital medical records and patient condition.
· Responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of Medical Imaging patient medical records, includes Radiology, Vascular and Echo Lab.
· Responsible for the filing and distribution of Radiology reports according to department protocol in the absence of office personnel.
· Responsible for performing office related duties in the absence of office staff.
Technical Operations Responsibilities and Standards:
· Identify each patient and review each patient’s requisition, either hard copy or in computer systems, for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
· Records pertinent data on radiologic requisition at all times. (Physician’s name, technologist’s name, date, explanation for limited examination, etc.)
· Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.
· Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents completed examination to appropriate technical staff member, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
· Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images.
· Use the computer system in documenting correctly and accurately patient information to ensure the quality of patient care according to established department protocol.
· Perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges.
· Organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing the physician’s orders.
· Participate in the training and orientation of new employees.
· Ensure patient safety, comfort, and care through proper observation established safety rules and regulations.
Requirements
· Graduation from an accredited/approved school of radiology
· Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
· Valid Illinois Radiology license
· CPR/AED and CT certifications are welcomed but not required
Physical Demands
· Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and move between
tasks.
· Ability to hear and converse on the phone and in person.
· Ability to perform fine motor tasks, such as when working with the computer, writing or phone tasks.
· Ability to twist/bend, stoop/crouch and to climb or balance when moving or retrieving inventory from shelves
· Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds and to push/pull boxes, carts or pallet jacks.
